Fire & Police Department Application Process

Obtaining an application:

Applications are available in the Mayor's Office between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon and 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. They are also available on the Louisiana Fire and Police Civil Service website. http://ose.louisiana.gov/testing_applications.htm You should select competitive application. Other information such as study guides are available on this website. Birth certificate, voter registration card, and a copy of the high school diploma must accompany the application and they must be turned in at the Mayor's Office.

Taking a Civil Service Test:

Passing a civil service test is required to be eligible for employment with the Bogalusa Fire Department and the Bogalusa Police Department. Tests for the entry level and competitive positions are scheduled in Bogalusa as they are needed. An eligibility list is created and is in effect for 18 months. It is also possible to take entry level tests for patrolman and firefighter in other jurisdictions and have the grade transferred. http://ose.louisiana.gov/
