Code Enforcement

The duties of the code officer are to enforce the codes of the City of Bogalusa. These duties include, but are not limited to, abandoned vehicles on public property, illegal signs on public property, illegal dumping of sewerage, checking for occupational licenses, over grown property, junked property, and IPMC. On August 21, 2012 the City Council passed ordinance no. 2294 which adopted, as part of City Codes, the International Building Codes which include the International Property Maintenance Code which is the code officer's responsibility to enforce. The purpose of this code is to get property owners to maintain their property, including their yards and all buildings or structures, in a clean, safe, secure and sanitary condition so as not to cause a blighting problem or adversely affect the public health or safety. This will also help to maintain property values.
