Purchasing

The Purchasing Department is responsible for the procurement and security of all property, supplies, materials and services for the City. This is achieved through a central purchasing system in accordance with applicable state laws and generally accepted accounting principles.

Purchasing and warehouse operates in two separate divisions independent of each other. The procurement of goods and services is executed through the Purchasing Agent's Office, which is located in City Hall. The supplies and materials are shipped and secured in a warehouse in a separate location.

The Director of Administration oversees that the operations of the two are independent and efficient as possible.

BID PROCESS: PURCHASES WHERE THE ESTIMATED COST IS $10,000 SHALL BE MADE BY SENDING OUT WRITTEN INVITATION FOR BIDS TO AT LEAST FIVE RESPONSIBLE BIDDERS.

WHERE THE COST IS ESTIMATED TO BE OVER $30,000, PURCHASES SHALL BE ADVERTISED IN ACCORDANCE WITH LA R.S. 39:1594. PUBLICATIONS WILL BE MADE ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS, AT LEAST SEVEN DAYS APART. BID SPECIFICATIONS, IF ANY, WILL BE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. A FORM IS REQUIRED TO BE FILLED OUT BEFORE RECEIVING BID SPECIFICATIONS.
