I just happened across this site when a pal mentioned he was from the beautiful town of Bogalusa. I am pleasantly surprised by the southern charm and small town character I've found Bogalusa possesses. I especially enjoyed the pictures of the geese and the Christmas light display. My only criticism would be that the images were a little small for the mural album- I wish I could see the detail of all the wonderful little vignettes. I can't wait to visit this quaint town some day!

I'm a Police Officer with the Canton MS Police Department. I came by there on the way to the NO area during Katrina. I also browse the web to see things about the other, "Small Town" PD's. We, the small town departments, make up the bulk of the Law Enforcement in this great country. Hope your PD Section will have more about personnel and equipment later. Otherwise, this is a helpful and good web site. Good Luck. Hope I will be able to visit some day.

I was born and raised in Bogalusa and I miss it terribly. I still have family there and hope to one day retire and return HOME. I married a LumberJack my high school sweet heart. We moved away in Jan. 1981. My beloved husband was called home to rest after 28 yrs of marriage and I miss HIM and HOME even the more. I still remember Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill and Box Factory. My grandpa, dad, uncles and brother worked there over the years. I can still hear the whistle blow and how could I forget that one of a kind smell. Please continue to draw us back home with this wonderful website. I want my children and grandchildren to know their roots. God Bless Bogalusa.

Glad to find this site. I was born and raised in Bogalusa. left there when I was 15. I have a brother that still lives there, Darrel McCain. I still miss Bogalusa when I come home. I would love to find my best friend who used to live on West 8th St., her name is Debbie Duncan. She has a brother named Larry. I visited Bogalusa with my father, Edward Williams Clay, Sr. back in the early 80's and was thrilled to visit his family home on Jackson Street. I am now working on my Williams family history and would love to locate family of James McElvin Williams, wife Dorothy, or daughters Sylvia Johnson, Carol or son Jessie.

My wife and I will be visiting friends in Picayune, MS. I have heard about Bogalusa from an LSU coworker, Ms. Janie Brown (now retired from LSU). Since I have never stopped to visit the town, my wife and I thought we would take the opportunity to visit your fair city this weekend. Your website has been informative. I was born and raised in Bogalusa. I will always call it my home. Most of my family are still there. Are there any Evans's, Sharp's, Mizell's out there? If so- email me. My maiden name was Evans. I remember Regina Galloway and JoAnn ? from growing up there. Also Carolyn Landrum. This is all maiden names for them too. I remember Allen Mitchell, Clay Cothern (deceased now) and Doyle Creel. Born in Bogalusa 70 years ago and planning to move back. Mother was born when Bogalusa became a city and I have pay stubs from the Great Southern Lumber Company. As a matter of fact, while Grandpa Fare was driving his oxen one strayed and he retrieved it in the Creek. An open sore became infected and he died in his 30's leaving grandmother with four small children. I have many fond memories of my life in Bogalusa and know I will, again, when I return. ( I have a photo of Grandpa and his team of oxen.)
The City of Bogalusa is deeply saddened by the events that took place September 11, 2001.
Bogalusa salutes the military efforts of the Louisiana National Guard 205th Engineer Battalion and the 344th Army Reserve Ordinance Company on behalf of our country.
While the effects of Hurricane Katrina will be felt in Bogalusa, Washington Parish and the Gulf Coast for months and years to come, the contributions and volunteer efforts of thousands of people throughout the United States and the world over the last several months has made a real difference in peoples’ lives.

Stewart died August 3, 2005 when his amphibious Assault Vehicle was attacked by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations south of Haditha, Iraq.
He was assigned to Marine Force Reserve’s 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Gulfport, Mississippi.

I went down to Bogalusa in August and helped rebuild a roof on one of the houses that was effected by Katrina. I sure enjoyed myself and you guys are so brave. I became close to a man there, Joe...He's a good guy. Very nice to us while we were working on his neighbors house and bery helpful. I hope I'll be able to come back down soon and help out by doing all I can.

Wonderful to see this web page. I grew up in Bogalusa and moved away in the 1970's, I was a Paperdoll and dated a Lumberjack! My family is starved for information about the town since Katrina. I was so glad to see that there was a web Page about Bogalusa Lousiana. I was born and raised in Bogalusa. I attended then the Central Memorial High School from 1955-1957. I was a member of Thirkield Methodist Church. I wish there was a listing of the current residents who still reside in Bogulasa. I was so surprised to see that this web sight was listed.
