Name: Chris Hortman CommentsI Grew up in Bogalusa and have been gone since 1980. I ended up in Georgetown, Kentucky "Heaven on earth" this is the central part of KY. This area is just fantastic. We do have 4 seasons, with only 20 days above 90. No humidity or skeeters. My wife and I have 5 acres in the county. I told her she could plant any tree she wanted as long as it was not PINE. I have about 230 trees now. the view behind my house is grand. I can see for about 15 miles or so. The jobs are plentiful up and the whole state is growing. I read about a Katrina transplant who now lives in Lexington. He said he should of come years ago and didn't know any place like this existed. It is truly beautiful for hundreds of miles in any direction. I still see this vision of bogalusa and can't get out of my head. The street going to the hospital from the post office. the high school band room on the corner. the pile of rocks in the middle of the interection. It has probably been their for 60 some odd years. Blowing in the wind. I came to ky after college, Louisiana Tech I had no job, no place to live and no church home. the journey was long and has not ended yet. I have a wonderful wife Maryjoy and two Kids. Sugar is a Catahoula, and Nookie is a australian shepard. I smoke great BBQ and my steaks rival the best any restaurant can offer. No I don't miss Bogalusa, it is just part of my past. Yes I Do miss friends and some places to eat. Nothing ventured nothing gained. contrary to belief, We are not in control of our future. we never have been in control and we will never be in control of our future. I will give you a hint. Jesus Christ is my KING. He is always in control. PS will someone clean up that pile of rocks it is driving me nuts.
